Looking for my best friend from childhood
Hi Ader, You are doing a great service by helping people find their long lost relatives/friends. I am hoping you can help me out. I am looking for my best friend from childhood – Jimmy Dordi. He lived on Merryweather road in Mumbai and went to the Scholar high school off Colaba Causeway. He and I attended the school together until 1972 (we were 12 years old) when I went to a boarding school. On my return home for the summer holidays that year, I found out that his dear mother had passed away and that his father remarried and “whisked” him away without any trace. His relatives who lived across the street – last name Baria – had no idea where his father took him. Unfortunately, the Baria family is no more 😦 They also had indicated that his father may have changed Jimmy’s name. Unfortunately, I do not recall his father or mother’s name. All I remember is that he was my best friend and we were inseparable. I am so hoping you can help me out as I think of my dear friend very often even after 40+ years. Thank you. Sincerely, Naval Mullan. If you have any information, please write directly )Naval Mullan” n_mullan@comcast.net and copy AderGandi@Gmail.com so it can be recorded as a solved case. Thank you. Dear Ader I was refered to your wonderful website by a lovely person on the Ancestry DNA site. My mother and I are trying to find information on DR KAIKHASRU SORABJI BHIWANDAWALLA (1888-1985). We strongly believe that he is my grandmother’s father, and all of our DNA results (mine, my mother’s and my grandmother’s) are in alignment with Parsi ancestry. We know that Keke (Kaikhasru’s nickname, apparently) studied medicine in Scotland, UK and returned to India to serve in the Indian Medical Service from 1918-1923 before permanently migrating to London, UK in 1923. He then practiced medicine in London for many years. It would be wonderful to have any information on Keke, his life and family/friends so that we can further progress this incredible journey we have found ourselves on. Kind regards & many thanks. CASE # 624 (Posted November, 15, 2016)

I have been reading your website, “The Missing Parsi” and amazed at how many cases have been solved. I’m not sure how this works but I am trying to track down my cousins Farokh and Firoze Sidhwa (spellings may be incorrect). We last met about 60-70 years ago. My maiden name is Master. Farokh and Firoze are twins and were studying for the priesthood at the Madressa in Andheri. My brothers and I used to visit them over the odd weekend from Malcolm Baug Jogeshwari where I lived with my parents and three brothers, Jal, Cyrus and Firdosh. Farokh and Firoze were the sons of my Virbaiji Fooi. I am told that one is now a surgeon and the other is an engineer, but not too sure about this. I live in Sydney Australia with my family and as I do not have too many cousins from my father’s side I am very eager to touch base with them. If anyone knows of their whereabouts could I please request that they contact me direct on my email address Behroze.bilimoria@gmail.com …..Thank you so much. Kind regards, Behroze Bilimoria, Sydney, Australia.

CASE # 621 (Posted November, 15, 2016) Now Solved?

Dear Ader, My friend Zubin Madon suggested I contact you. I am trying to find out more about my father, Bahman Bhikhaji Italia. Not sure when he was born, but I was born 25th May 1969, to a mixed marriage. My mother was Scottish woman Jessie Moira Evans Italia (born Mackay). My father was probably born before Partition, perhaps in the 40s or 30s. They married on June 27th, 1968. Our home address was 18 Mary Road, Bath Island, Karachi in what was then “West Pakistan.” I believe he was an accountant by profession. My father moved to the UK; I believe in 1977, when Zia came to power. He died in 1980. Anything more you can find out would be helpful to me. I’ve always believed my surname was Italian (which puzzled me). I only recently discovered the Parsi connection, but it fits with many things I remember (esp a tale of the Tower of Silence, which impressed me as a child). Yours, Iona iona.italia@icloud.com If you have any information, please write directly to iona.italia@icloud.com and copy AderGandi@Gmail.com so it can be recorded as a solved case. Thank you. CASE # 621 (Posted November, 15, 2016) Now Solved?
Hi All, Missing Parsi site is being run by Ader Gandi who lives in No Cal he is doing a fantastic service connecting Parsis who have lost touch with friends and family. Boman Italia worked as an accountant in your dad’s Godrej uncle’s company. I guess Iona is trying to find more details about her late father. Maybe you both can throw some light on the matter. All details on the case and email addresses are given below. Stay well and best wishes. Ardeshir.ajelavia@gmail.com

I was contacted earlier about this and was asking people here in Karachi who would have recalled Boman and details of his life to add to my recollections. I had started preparing a write up, so will try and send it when convenient. I am happy that Iona wants to learn more her father and her Parsi roots. Please send her my regards and best wishes. Franey Irani iranifraney@gmail.com

Dear Iona, I remember your father vividly. He visited Lahore and stayed with us frequently. We played a lot of card games together with other friends. He had a dry sense of humor, and was like a cheerful and affectionate gnome. He was quick witted and intelligent and pleasant with everyone. He was fond of Noshir and me and we looked forward to his visits. In fact Noshir, your dad and another bachelor, Rustom Bankwalla, had shared a flat in Karachi for some years. Noshir has a lot more details to share with you.
After his marriage Boman brought Fiona on a visit to us in Lahore, and we took both of them to Nathyagali, our house in the mountains. Your mother was rather quiet and reserved. We were excited to learn from her that Twiggy, the phenomenally famous British model, was her sister. Iona, I’m sure you know all about Twiggy. I hope this information has been somewhat helpful in creating a fuller image of your father. I would like to know more about you and your life if you would care to share it with me. With best wishes, Bapsi Sidhwa.
